Selling my Michael Kors

These days everyone has got their Michael Kors, that crazy little accessory obsession that’s spread across the globe. Helped by the fact it’s actually affordable for a designer watch, and that it comes in a huge range of styles.

I got mine last November, I went for the MK5138 – the tortoise and gold one as I thought it was something different. I managed to justify it as at the time ASOS were doing 20% student discount as well as free delivery.

However, since then, as more pictures have popped up all over blogs and Tumblr, I started to fall for the full gold ones and decided I wanted to sell mine.

I tweeted/instagram’ed pictures, and a link to ASOS Marketplace and eBay where I have put it up for sale. However so far I have had no response and am slowly accepting I probably won’t be able to sell it (atleast not for a decent price) and will just have to rediscover my love for it. And no, I will not be forking out another lump sum on one of the other watches – my watch budget really doesn’t stretch that far.

What do you think of my Michael Kors? Do you have one? If so, which model?

And do you also ever find you love something when you buy it, and then see other versions/types and wish you’d opted for that instead? Lol, ah well, such is life I guess.

Loves, xoxo

ASOS Fashion Finder

Calling all my fellow love-children of fashion! If, like me, you spends too many hours a day scouring the net and coming up with more outfit ideas than your head can handle, but your kind of tight on time - then this ones for you.

I'm not even going to try and compare it to the likes of Chictopia, but ASOS Fashion Finder is a much more familiar and easier way for you to bring out your style ideas and inspirations. It's a simple way to create, share, and shop!

I’ve seen it vaguely every time I go on to www.asos.com but have never bothered to actually see what it’s all about. Then on this boring Monday afternoon, I decided I clearly had nothing better to do - and boy am I glad I didn’t. I love seeing what other people put together, and get so much inspiration from them; some of these people are clearly natural stylists.

Here are a couple of my collages so far...

I defo recommend it, go check it out quicktime! http://fashionfinder.asos.com

My screenname on it is Reshma, ‘friend’ me! =) xoxo

Long time no blogging… (+ my new toy!)

Well hello there again!

Yes yes, t’is been a long while since my last update/rant. As much as I had endeavoured to gain some sort of super committed consistency with my blog, I haven’t done very well. In my defence, my social life is slowly but surely becoming somewhat existent (Woop!) and fitting that in with my revision and manic famalam, I’ve been so exhausted I’ve slept at all possible opportunities.

OK, I guess this is a bit of a good time for some updates, and maybe some upcoming blogposts, right?

Another thing that’s been keeping me rather occupied, and consuming almost any ounce of free time I have, is my new camera! You may have probably noticed the not-so-great quality of the photos in my previous blogs, so I gave in and invested in what is my new obsession - the Panasonic Lumix G2.

I was originally looking at the Canon 600D, which is no doubt awesome (recently saw it in February’s STUFF magazine as No. 1 DSLR too!), but after weeks of debating whether I really needed to spend that much right now on my first DSLR, when the Lumix G2 does everything I need it too – and is less of a brick so wouldn’t add too much weight to my already overloaded handbag – I got the cheaper/smaller alternative.
So ‘watch this space’ peeps, once I’ve got to grips with all settings etc and had a chance to really try it out (outside the house), I will be eagerly filling up blogposts with some snaps. J If you want a more detailed review of the Panasonic Lumix G2, just let me know!

I’ve also got my first overseas business trip coming up – exciting! Me and my laptop will be jetting off to Asia for a fortnight, defo expect blogposts & photos!

And finally, in an attempt to make sure I blog more, I am going to do specific blogs on specific days. This week should hopefully be the start of ‘Friday Favourites’ and ‘A week in pictures’ which will be done on the weekend.

Enough of my rambling, I must attempt to actually do some work even though I think I may have the Monday blues, hmmm.

Thanks for reading guys!

[Oh] Dear Mac…

Question Of The Day: So does the local MAC assistant reeeeaaally know best?
(Rant alert)

Last week, I trecked out of my way to go to this MAC counter in Debhenams  (which is in a tiny, non-exciting corner of the boringest department store I’ve ever been in – but it’s the only one in my region so I have no choice!) to top up my concealer stash.

Now, after much trial and error in the past, I have established my MAC shade is NW30/35 depending on the product. Currently my foundation is NW30, so when I went to the counter to pick up a Studio Finish; why OH why did the MAC lady decide to give me NW35? She basically just wouldn’t get me a NW30 out the draw because she was so adamant I needed NW35.

OK, now I understand she is a make-up artist, and she probably knows more about make-up than me, so I propped myself on that seat and let her test it out on me (I could tell she was dying to do this). She buffed it on around my eyes and showed me; it looked ok, it kind of just blended in with my skin, it covered the dark bits, but it just didn’t look flattering!

However, the time on my parking ticket was rapidly running out and I really needed a concealer so I decided to go with ‘the make-up artist knows best’ and bought it.

Unfortunately when I got to my car, and worse – when I got home, I managed to examine it in much better lighting and established it looked awful! My eye area was darker and orange-er than my face; definitely not flattering at all.

Lo and behold, I will have to take another trip to this MAC counter to swap it for a NW30…Grrr.

Moral of the story; sometimes you need to be more assertive if you know you’re probably right, even if you are up against a moody, unapproachable MAC lady.

Disclaimer: I honestly don’t have anything against MAC MUA’s, lol, I have lovely friends who work/have worked at the MAC counter so I'm sure this is just a one off rant. :) Thanks for reading!

NAKED2 - get Naked..again?

So, today I walked into the office to find a couple of packages on my desk (instantly making my morning slightly less depressing), and I am happy to declare: I am the proud owner of an Urban Decay NAKED2 palette! Yep; I saw; I bought.

[REWIND..] If you’re into your make up, you’ll no doubt remember the MAJOR hype behind the original NAKED palette. I, admittedly, was quite late jumping on that bandwagon, the price was much more than I’d normally wish you pay for an eye shadow palette. However, I can honestly say, it remains one of my best purchases so far. I even had a few friends try out mine and go out and got themselves one! The colours are so pigmented and wearable, I literally use this on 90% of my day or night make up looks. (Here is a pic of my slightly battered but ever trustworthy original..)

About a month ago, I started seeing and hearing about the NAKED2 palette, mainly by those few lucky Youtubers who got to test out the palette before it went on sale, I think. I didn’t expect it to be on sale in the UK until Feb, but when I spotted it in the Debhenams newsletter that they already had it online and it was in stock, how could I NOT have bought it? Especially after the original one was out of stock for so long and almost impossible to get hold of!

I have had a little play with it; swatched, blended, with primer, without primer, etc… and I have concluded: I love it as much as the original.

There is definitely a couple more matt shades than the previous, which is always a thumbs up! the colours are so wearable and suited to almost all skin tones. I'm still to do some actual looks with it, but I see it being another well used addition to the make up collection.

The colours:
FOXY, HALF BAKED (the only one that is also in the original NAKED palette), BOOTY CALL, CHOPPER, TEASE, SNAKE BITE, SUSPECT, PISTOL, VERVE, YDK, BUSTED, BLACKOUT.

My fave's are FOXY (a matt cream bisque) and CHOPPER (a copper-gold); this these may be my most used!

And last but not least; the double sided brush and lipgloss...

How can you not be chuffed with a double ended brush? Here you go, after spending that slightly obscene amount on an eye-shadow palette you also deserve, not one, but TWO brushes (in one), Urban Decay are on it!
Although, having had a little try out of the brush, I do feel the crease brush isn't very dense and I do doubt I will be using this much when I have my MAC 217 at hand.

The mini Lip Junkie gloss is so cute; it is in the colour NAKED (pinky/peachy) which 'COOLS & PLUMPS' as it says on the back. It smells minty, and provides a very neutral, glossy look.

All in all, I am very happy with the palette and can't wait to put it through it's paces. Yeh, I've also read its more suited to cooler-tone skin shades, and this may possibly be true, however I genuinely believe you can rock these whatever skin tone you are.

Comment if you have this palette/ like it/ dislike it/anything at all really. :)

Thanks for reading darlings!
